    Report Sexual Misconduct

To report sexual misconduct, or to ask questions or share concerns related to a possible incident of sexual misconduct, please contact the College’s Title IX Coordinator, Bianca A. Vitale, Esq., Email: bianca.vitale@baruch.cuny.edu, Phone: 646-312-4546.

Reports involving concerning behavior, student conduct violations, student complaints regarding faculty conduct, or academic integrity matters should continue to be submitted through the Baruch College Portal for Incident Reporting,  maintained by the Office of the Dean of Students.

    Stay Safe and Gather Evidence

GET TO A SAFE PLACE AND CALL FOR ASSISTANCE. If you are being stalked or threatened, or are concerned about your personal safety, call Baruch College’s Office of Public Safety at (646) 312-3333, the NYC Police Department at 911, or go to your nearest police station. For emergencies or situations requiring immediate attention off campus, call 911.

SEEK IMMEDITAE MEDICAL ATTENTION AND EMOTIONAL SUPPORT. Baruch College encourages anyone who has experienced Sexual Assault, Domestic Violence, or Dating Violence to seek medical attention as soon as possible. Healthcare professionals can provide treatment for injuries, preventative treatment for sexually transmitted diseases, emergency contraception and other health services. They can also assist in preserving evidence or documenting any injuries. Taking these steps promptly after an incident can be helpful if an individual later decides to pursue criminal charges or a protective order.

Individuals who have experienced or witnessed Sexual Assault, Domestic Violence or Dating Violence are also encouraged to seek emotional support, either on or off-campus. On campus resources may include nurses and/or nurse practitioners at the Baruch College Student Health Care Center and counselors at the College’s Counseling Center. Counselors are trained to provide crisis intervention and provide referrals for longer-term care as necessary.

PRESERVE PHYSICAL EVIDENCE. You can decide whether to press charges later, but you can only preserve physical evidence now. Many NYC hospitals have specially trained “sexual assault forensic examiners” (SAFE) who gather evidence usable in court. SAFE exams are free, and you can stop them at any time if you are not comfortable. If possible, avoid drinking, eating, showering, brushing teeth, combing hair or changing clothes before seeing a SAFE. But if you have done any of these things, evidence can still be collected, and it remains important to seek medical attention. Evidence collection does not require you to make a police report or press charges, it just preserves these options. The SAFE Center closest to Baruch College’s campus is Bellevue Hospital (NYC Health + Hospitals), 462 First Avenue, Room A329, New York, NY 10016, Telephone: 212-562-3025. For more information about additional SAFE Center locations, please visit https://www.health.ny.gov/professionals/safe/.

You are not alone, support is available. The Title IX Office at Baruch College can help connect you to resources and assist with coordinating supportive measures.
