Update: Baruch’s Activity-Based Budget Process and Progress

Dear Baruch College Faculty and Staff:

Thank you to those who attended yesterday’s Activity-Based Budgeting (ABB) kickoff event. During the informative session led by EAB Research Advisory Services Managing Director David Vuletich, PhD, MBA, we learned in greater detail the principles of activity-based budgeting. ABB will support the College’s strategic plan by enhancing transparency and deepening the community’s understanding of our budget and budget process.

To keep everyone updated and informed about this initiative, an ABB SharePoint site has been created and is available here. The site will be updated as new information becomes available; when the BaruchHUB intranet is launched later this month, this content will be linked there.

    The ABB site currently includes:

    • General information about ABB and Baruch’s adoption process
    • Timeline for ABB meetings and anticipated rollout
    • EAB’s PowerPoint presentation shared at the September 3 event
    • Video recording of the September 3 meeting
    • An initial list of ABB Frequently Asked Questions
    • Membership of the Steering Committee

    Next Steps

As outlined in EAB’s presentation (available on the SharePoint site), a series of phased and targeted engagements with stakeholders and the Steering Committee will take place over the next six months.

The next community event, a Faculty Engagement Workshop, will be held on Thursday, Nov. 21 from 12:30 to 2 pm in the Information and Technology Building, Room 750. Details and a registration link will be shared in the coming weeks.

Thank you for your partnership in this important initiative. Activity-Based Budgeting will play a critical role as we make transparent, data-informed decisions to drive strategic growth and fulfill our commitment to access, excellence, and outcomes for the Baruch community.

I would like to extend my gratitude to the Steering Committee for their hard work and collaboration, which has brought us to this point. They will continue to communicate with the campus community, providing updates regarding next steps and further engagements in support of this important initiative.

    Sincerely,

    S. David Wu
    President, Baruch College
