    Baruch Stands Firmly Against Hatred

    Dear Baruch Community,

I am saddened to report that the façade of the Newman Vertical Campus was vandalized early on the morning of Sunday, October 6. I unequivocally condemn this act in the strongest terms, particularly on this most somber of days.

Let me be crystal clear: antisemitism and any form of hatred and intimidation have no place at Baruch College and will not be tolerated.

In my web message posted earlier today, I reflected on the importance of honoring our diversity and fostering understanding. The hateful act of vandalism we witnessed is a stark reminder of why we must continue to build a more inclusive and respectful community—one that embraces empathy, dialogue, and unity.

We immediately reported the incident to the NYPD, and a full investigation is already in progress, in cooperation with our Department of Public Safety. The person(s) responsible for this action will be held fully accountable.

The safety and well-being of students, staff, and faculty remain our top priority. We have implemented additional security measures on campus this semester to ensure that classes and campus operations are not disrupted.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is urged to contact the Department of Public Safety at public.safety@baruch.cuny.edu or 646-660-6000.

    Sincerely,

    S. David Wu
    President, Baruch College
